Sao Paulo and Rio state cities supposed to host new Apple factory

Foxconn, which makes Apple’s products in China, looking for land to open its third factory in Jundiai, about 50 kilometers from Sao Paulo. The search has sparked rumors that the goal was to build the first factory of Apple in the country.

Foxconn already has two plants in Jundiai, which manufactures products from Sony and HP. Chinese executives have made consultations to the municipal council earlier this year in search of land that meets their needs. The company also has a plant in Manaus and the other in Indaiatuba (SP).

In November last year, the entrepreneur Eike Batista said he was trying to bring an Apple factory to the Port of Acu, Sao Joao da Barra, in the North. Batista said he was negotiating with two vendors of Apple products in Asia. At the time, Apple also declined to comment.

Foxconn’s interest in more than one plant in Jundiaí repercussions on international sites. The online home of the Forbes magazine said that “the billionaire Eike Batista can do his wish: an Apple factory in the country. ” The city of Jundiai doesnt say whether there is relationship between Batista and the new Foxconn factory.

Analysts have been debating if this is really going to bring the Ipad price down in the country. We pay a lot of import taxes, but also the cost to produce and to keep workforce in Brazil is much higher than in China. I wonder how long this company will stay in Brazil? Ten years maybe?
