Another Brazilian hidden camera prank goes viral online. This time, Carrie, brazilian version

Another prank by Silvio Santos becomes a hit on the Internet. After the success of the “Ghost Girl” that appeared in the elevator and the Chucky doll prank, now it was time for Carrie, based on the movie “Carrie – The Strange” to scare everybody and start laughs at the public. The joke aired last Sunday on SBT, a brazilian tv station and then went online, and has been seen 1.6 million times since then.

The program aired a similar play on the marketing strategy used by the filmmakers in New York to promote the film in the US, on occasion actors simulated with similar scenes from the movie and scared patrons of a cafe.

In the Brazilian version, much like the U.S. one, a man spills coffee “accidentally” on a woman who gets angry and uses her telekinetic powers to throw him against the wall. Then, through her powers, the girl drags tables and chairs and with one last scream makes books fly into a bookcase and lights blink at the cafe. Customers get desperate.

Before showing the desperation of the customers, the production unravels the mystery and shows viewers how it was done: they created a false wall, where the actor is pulled by a steel cable, as the chairs and tables are displaced by remote control.

Silvio Santos pranks, on the style of Candid Camera, have always been a hit in Brazil since the 90s and are know in Brazil as “pegadinhas” or “hidden cameras”. They started a Youtube channel only for the pranks.
