About Trancoso

Trancoso is a quiet and charming preserved village on the coast of the Bahia state in Brazil. Trancoso is part of Porto Seguro, about 743 km away from Salvador, the capital of Bahia. Founded by the Portuguese, the village was first called São João dos Índios.

A few years ago, Transoso is no longer the rustic and isolated village discovered by hippes in the 70s and has become the tourist destination of VIPs from Brazil and the world, and the young party crowd. The place is still calm due to the long distances from the capital and from the two other tourist cities just nearby, Porto Seguro is 47 km away and Arraial D’Ajuda is 27km away.

The Quadrado, a large square in the village center, framed by colorful houses and the little white church in the background, remains the heart of the site and it’s where everything happens. With simple and colorful houses, at O Quadrado today there are bars, restaurants, stylish inns, craft shops and boutiques from famous brands.

All the charm of this village is surrounded by beautiful beaches and lush nature with a mild climate year-round. Trancoso has also been a real estate hotspot in Brazil for foreigners looking for beach investments.
