Protocol broken with the arrival of the Olympic flag to Brazil

The Olympic flag – coming directly from London, after the closing ceremony of the Games this year, was presented on the morning of Wednesday to residents of the Complexo do Alemao, a favela in Rio. Although a replica of the Olympic symbol was hoisted during the ceremony, the original flag was shown, played and touched by children who attended the event, again breaking the rules of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Protocol broken, everybody touches the olympic flag in Brazil with no gloves and still let it touch the floor

After the ceremony, which took place in the community of Nova Brasilia, Governor Sergio Cabral, accompanied by the president of the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB), Nuzman, presented the original flag, which was stored in a wooden box. As the O Globo report showed on Wednesday, since Monday, the symbol is being handled by different people without gloves. To receive the flag, the Rio 2016 signed a commitment that says, among other things, that the flag can not get out of the box on the street or to be unfurled.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the governor said “the hand of an innocent child in a peaceful community only give more glory to the Flag. The true Olympic spirit is there. ”

The problem is that not only children touched it without gloves, but also the President, several people in the government and athletes coming back from the London Olympic Games. They do it as they please and this is a sign of things to come.
