Almost 2013, Rio records record high temperatures and blackout darkens the city

Rio recorded today the highest temperature since 1915, according to the Institute Climatempo. The maximum reached 43.2 degrees in Santa Cruz, in the western area of the city. The wind chill reached 47 degrees. The temperature was recorded by the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet). According to Climatempo, the thermometers marked marked Bangu 43.1 degrees in Bangu in 1984, a record broken this Wednesday.

Blackout darkens the city
A blackout left the Tom Jobim International Airport in the dark night also onWednesday. According to information from Infraero, the outage lasted about ten minutes. The two terminals were affected, but no flight cancellations occured, according to the state company that runs the airport. Residents of Ilha do Governador where the airport is and passengers, however, report that part of the neighborhood and airport remain without power.
