What do we really know about animal intelligence? What about their feelings? These questions are always put to the test when there is a case like this week’s. During the funeral of the Paraguayan cowboy Wagner Figueiredo de Lima, his horse showed the sadness and the love that felt for the owner.
Lima died in a motorcycle accident and was veiled with great reverence and his city. The animal participated in the burial, alone, and seemed indignant at the loss. He whinnied and clapped his paws as he looked at the coffin.
Then, suddenly, the animal laid its head on the coffin. The burial occurred on the last day 3 in the city of Cajazeiras, Sertão da Paraíba.
“This horse was all for him, it was as if the horse knew what was happening and wanted to say goodbye. Throughout the journey to the graveyard he was whinnying and stamping his feet on the ground,” said Wando de Lima, Wagner’s brother, To G1.
Wando was the one who decided to take the horse to the funeral and organized the tributes to his brother with other cowboys and friends of Wagner.
