Brazilians in the spotlight: Morena Baccarin, a carioca in Hollywood

Two months before starting to record the episodes of the second season of “Homeland,” the actress Rio naturalized in the United States Morena Baccarin came to Brazil to enjoy carnival and disseminate the program in his country winning the Golden Globe for Best Drama Series.

Displayed by the FX channel since March 4th, “Homeland” tells the story of an American soldier who returns home after eight years disappeared and presumed dead. Difficulties to resume life and relate to his wife, now dating his best friend, Nicholas Brody becomes suspicious of integrating the Al Quaeda and begins to be investigated by the CIA.

Brazilians in the spotlight
If the story of “Homeland” is coming to an end soon, there will still be plenty of jobs for Morena. She said the search for actors who can play Brazil characters is growing.

“I’ve done several tests to Brazilian characters. This film “Safe House” which comes out now in Brazil, has a French character that was originally Brazilian. I did the test and had to do an accent and everything, she said.

For Morena, Brazilians are more common now in television and cinema. “I think there is a growing interest. I’m seeing a lot more Brazilians in sitcoms and movies. I think now it’s chic to be Brazilian”, she said.
