The demonstrations against the World Cup and the corrupt government are still happening in Brazil. This Saturday, the Act Against The World Cup began organizing around 5pm, when masked protesters made a drawstring joining arms and blocked the avenue Sao Luis in Sao Paulo, near the Republic Square. Since early afternoon, however, the military police already had an effective surrounding the square that surpassed the number of protesters. For the first time, the “ninja battalion” was used, with about 100 officers trained in unarmed martial arts to immobilize protesters.
The demonstration which was peaceful ended up with the police attacking and beating up protesters.
The demonstration this Saturday in Fortaleza against hosting the World Cup ended with the burning of the Brazilian flag. About 30 students set the flag on fire on the beach boardwalk. The protest was eventually contained by the Military Police, who collected the burnt flag.
